Hi Jenny, I too, am trying to find info regarding the (my) Cusse family. I've found a little info about John and Jane (if they are the same people I've found) but the info I found is the other way around i.e Jane Cusse married John Eyre (which obviously makes her Jane Eyre). I found a William Cusse born. abt 1485. It may be possible that Sophia is related to my Grandfather, Ronald Cusse who was born abt. 1930.An Aunt perhaps???
I am English myself, and as far as I know, my family are the only Cusse's in the UK.
My Uncle and my Aunt, both conducted seperate geneological searches (to find the origin of the name and ancestry) but both searches had different results. One French, one Dutch.
I managed to contact a Patrick Cusse in Belgium (I thought he was my cousin, but he isn't) and he reckons the name is definitily English, originating from the time of Oliver Cromwell (my history is terrible), at which time the name was "Kish". If you have any more info on the origin of the name, please reply - I would be eternally grateful. If I can find any more info on the descendents of George and Sophia, then I will let you know.
