Here are some notes I had: I got my info from several sources. Sharon Lemoine Fluitt has been a great help. Also you can try Ancestry.comand the LDS site.
1.Samuel born 1734/35
Samuel's wife Anne's last name was Maltus.
Apparently it is this family who emigrated to Charleston, SC during the American Revolution while Charleston was still in the hands of the British. He opened a store there near the docks. In a yellow fever epidemic, his wife Ann and oldest son Benjamin died. He died soon after, leaving Maria, who we believe was sent back to family in England, and Samuel, the second son, who is the American founder of the family line today.Samuel became a prosperous merchant, dealing heavily in the slave trade. As far as I can tell, the last of the Fluitt's in England died out with a spinster in 1933.

He also , according to his signature on his father's estate adminstration , was for a while , an apothecary. But by 1774 is listed in the Liverpool City Directory as a merchant living on Park Lane. (I don't have my source listed for this, it may be from some papers sent to me by Clora Fluitt Smith)
2. Samuel and Martha Patience Hill Fluitt.
**Sharon sent me this:
From News & Courier, Nov. 12, 1933 Laura Heningway about the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Kingstree, SC.:
"Perhaps the first person buried there whose body was embalmed was Samuel Fluitt, who died in Columbia, Miss. before the railroad had been built here.Relatives had the body embalmed and placed in the first metallic casket to be brought here, and it was sent by what means nobody now knows to Lynchburg, where a relative brought it here on a wagon. The casket was not interred, but placed upon the ground and a brick vault built over it.After the Confederate War the Negros, strange to say, found they could look at the body by sliding around the top of the vault. For sixteen years the body lay in this state, until the annoyance of thosesliding around the vault became so great that the body was interred."
I found this book at the local library.
notes from "Caldwell Parish in Slices-Biographies":
He came over by boat from England before the 1800's with a goup of other emigrants , a group which he is said to be the leader. The boat landed at the mouth of the Saline River in S. Carolina, and there the group built a raft and traveled up that small river to about 7 miles from the coast and found a spot to their liking and decided to settle there. Mr. Fluittsuggested that they give thanks in the name of the King of England in appreciation of their safe voyage, so the settlement was named King's Tree and bears that name today. Upon his death several years later, he was buried there and has a large slab over his grave with his name on it.
Mr. Fluitt took up many acres of land near King's Tree and was engaged in farming most of his life. When his son's gres of age, he is said to have given each of them 1000 acres of land. He also had one daughter and resided at home. The 5 sons in the meantime grew restless and in a disagreement with their father, picked up some of their belongings and headed west. When they came to the mouth of the mighty Mississippi, they built a large raft and drifted down the stream eventually winding up on the Ouachita River, embarking at Columbia.
According to this bookSamuel was the father of Samuel B. Fluitt, Isaac Purvis Fluitt, Shaw Fluitt Sr.John Fluitt and James Fluitt. It says that Samuel B. (his son) was the oldest of 4 brothers who came to Caldwell Parish from South Carolina. It also states that James or Jim was the youngest brother and that he returned to South Carolina.
This does not fit with my notes. There were quite a few Samuel B. Fluitt's in this family the author may have confused one or more of them. My records show that Isaac Purvis Fluitt was Samuel's grandsonby his son John Stent Fluitt.
I show the following children for this couple: John Stent, Anne Patience,Martha Elinor & Samuel. My line is through Samuel.
3. John Stent Fluitt. I only show 3 children for John and Mary McDonald Nelson. They are Isaac Purvis, William Nelson, and Samuel. I'd appreciate it if you could fill me in on the rest.
I have the following notes on Isaac: b. abt. 1834 Married Mary Lucinda Stuart Oct. 5 ,1865 in Caldwell Parish, LA He is buried in Beulah cemetery below Jena,LA and she is buried in Welcome Home cemetery inCaldwell Parish. I have 11 children listed for this couple.

" Isaac P. Fluitt is the only man with a complete service record. He also enrolled in Co. I (The Caldwell Guards) , 3rd La. Infantry. He was captured and paroled at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863and returned home to await exchange. This formal exchange did not occur until the end of August 1864 when the 3rd La. was returned to duty.Given his final parole at Monroe on June 13, 1865, he was also a resident of Caldwell parish, La.
I have the following notes on William Nelson Fluitt.Born 1833. He married Margaret Durant McClary in Kingstree, SC. He died in 1896 Thompsonville, TX. They had 3 children. Margaret died in 1866 in Kingstree. He then married Mary Helen "Sally" Duke and they had 9 children.
The Fluitt family is listed among the early settlers of Hoover's Valley community. This community was first settled in the early 1850's.
I don't have much on Samuel.
