Hey There,
The accounts I have seen had William Fly shipping out of Bristol, England as a Bosun's Mate. He and the crew took over the ship and made the Captain walk the plank. His career was, indeed, short. He was captured by some sort of stratagem and transported into Boston. He was tried and condemned there; then he was hanged in Boston; after which his remains were hung in chains on the Island of Nix's Mate in Boston Harbor where ALL passing by could see what happened to Pirates. Hurricanes have washed Nix's Mate into the sea since that happening during the time of the famous Cotton Mather, who was said to have made oblique references to Captain William's trial and execution in his church sermon the following Sunday.

He threw flowers from the cart taking him to his hanging. See "Pirates Who's Who of America" and alternately "Under the Black Flag".
