Yes, I agree that they probably aren't the same, but Annes and Marys and Patricks, etc. are very popular in most of the Irish families, I think.
In the 1860 census, my Catherine Fogerty/Fogarty was living with Patrick and Ann Marley in Buffalo New York.That is also where I got her approximate birth year. She was the mother-in-law of the head of the household (Patrick Marley).
I plan on going back to Buffalo, NY to work on this at their genealogy library downtown.It won't be until July 2008.I live in the Phoenix area and try to get back to western NY to see the relatives once a year.I didn't have the Marley/Fogarty names last time I was out there, so maybe I'll get some good info.If you know what church they went to, you could contact it and get more info, but it sounds like you already did that if the connection was a baptism.
