Prince Edward Island P.E.I., Canada, 1800's

By Betty Fredericks June 23, 2010 at 01:06:44

Hello,

Because of a marriage of my great-uncle,I am interested in a couple who seem to have been both born in P.E.I., Canada. They were John "Michael" FOGARTY, b~1885?, and Isabelle "Belle" JOLLIMORE / JOLLYMORE.Her family might have lived in both Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.I don't know anything about Michael FOGARTY's family, but I just read on-line that at least one large FOGARTY family arrived from Ireland in the mid-1800's and settled on P.E.I.

Michael and Belle seem to have married in 1909 in P.E.I.The 1911 census had them living there with their baby son, James FOGARTY.They then had 3 daughters, Laura, Mary, and Hattie.I have their married names, and most of the children seem to have lived long lives, as did Belle.Michael might have died during the 1940's.

At some point either Michael and Belle moved to California, or Belle moved there after she was widowed. At some point she and her daughter, Mrs. Laura ROBERTS, lived in Riverside, CA.Belle died there in 1983.I haven't been able to find information on Laura.

My great-uncle was George "Sanford" KIDDER, Jr., b1904 near Boston, MA.He was mostly estranged from his family in Winchester, MA.When his mother died there in 1958, he wrote to say that he was living in Riverside, CA.I found out he died there in 1968, and I was able to obtain his obituary. It said he had a wife, Mrs. Isabelle KIDDER and several children. We did not know he had ever married. This was the Isabelle above and her FOGARTY children. As far as we know, Uncle Sanford never had children of his own.

I'd like to find descendants of the FOGARTY family.I'd like to find out if they have any information on my great-uncle.

Betty(near Lowell, MA)

(On the FOGARTY Board atwww.rootsweb.comI saw in the archives that there were families in P.E.I. in mid-1800's and they were from Ireland.)
