My great grandfather Charles and his father Marion are from Humboldt, Iowa. My grandmother Blythe Folk knows that Marion originally came from Illinois where he had married Mary Hyland, but she is certain that Marion Folk was the only Folk family in Humboldt County or Humboldt, Iowa. Marion had a sister who went by Eli, but my grandmother is unsure if her fullname was Eliza. Marion would have been born in the early 1850's, as Charles was born in 1886, perhaps in Illinois, Marion's father's name is not known. Marion and Charles were both Freemasons in Humboldt, Iowa, perhaps that is another place to look for records. Do you know if your Folk family were also Freemasons? My grandmother once said her father Charles told her that their name was originally Von Folk, or Vonfolk in Germany.

My Warren Folk (father of Amy, Oscar, Lora/Lara, William Warren & Stella/Violet) is apparently known by the name "Hiram S Folk" according to census data. Postcards from his daughter Lora had lead me to believe his name to be Warren. According to census records, Hiram & his wife Eliza Jane(?) lived in LaSalle County, IL in the 1880's; in Iroquois County, IL in the early 1900's, and later migrated to Humboldt County, Iowa. They had come to IL from Ohio sometime between 1866 & 1868. Approximate birth years are as follows:
