THE FUNERAL OF MRS. JAS. SITHERWOOD Jas Sitherwood, who took his wife east for burial several weeks ago, returned last Friday. He stated that he wished to thank the Rebekahs of this city for the beautiful wreath which they furnished, and also his neighbors for the kindeness as well as a valuable assistance given during his wife's illness and death.Following is a clipping from the Paola Kansas paper in regard to the death and burial of Mrs. Sitherwood.
The funeral of Mrs. Nellie Sitherwood, wife of James Sitherwood, last Sunday, the 3d inst., from the John Folks homestead, where Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith live, in Osage township, was largely attended. The services at the home at 2 o'clock in the afternoon were conducted by Rev. Watson of the Methodist church, and interment was in the Whiteford cemetery, where Mrs. Jane Folks and Vernon Folks, Nellie's mother and brother, are buried.
Mrs. Sitherwood, the third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Folks, was born on the Folk's homestead November 2nd , 1871, and died at her home in Washington, close to Cheney, Washington, April 25, 1908, after an operation, which was deemed necessary by attending doctors.
She was conscious to the end and her last words to the nurse were: "Let Jim and the children come and kiss me.It's God's will and I'm ready to go."So, with loved ones at her side, she passed peacefully away.
I'm not related to this family, but posted the article in hopes it would help someone in their research.
