My Gr grandfather, Wm. Newton Jarrard of White Co, GA went to Limestone Co, TX in about 1875,where he evidently had relatives. Some of the Jarrards & Wm's mother's people, the Dorseys, of White Co. GA were potters & there were also pottery makers in Limestone Co in the late 1800s.I believe that is the reason for this family having gone to TX. Reputedly, Wm left White Co. after being rejected in his offer of marriage to a "Miss Boone."In Limestone Co, he met Lucy Jane Folley, who was b 1858 in Navasota, Grimes Co., TX.According to old family records compiled by this couple's grandson, Lucy Jane was the daughter of an "Allen Folley & Polly Masterson."She was orphaned at an early age & went to live with relatives in Limestone Co. - which would be the Folleys.Wm & Lucy had 7 children & she died following the birth of the 7th in 1891.The baby also died soon after the mother.Wm then married my gr grandmother, Mary Ella Sadler, the daughter of Lucy Jane's cousin, Jane (Folley)& Samuel Lewis Sadler of Oletha, Limestone Co., TX.Ella died of TB after the birth of her 5th son in 1904.I have been unable to find any further info on Allen & Polly (Masterson)Folley & it was suggested to me that possibly it was Abel Folley of Parker Co instead of Allen.2 of my half gr uncles, sons of Lucy Jane & Wm Jarrard, married Masterson girls in early 1900s.The girls, who lived in Houston, both died young as a result of early birth control practices. It is my opinion that these Masterson girls were somehow related to their mother's family.I, and also my cousins from that line, would like to learn more about this part of the puzzle.
