My husband's 3rd great grandparents were Amos Barnum and Susan (Fonda) Gage. From a history I own written by Porter Matteson, it states the following: "In view of the fact that three descendants of William Montgomery Gage married Fonda's, I am therefore giving a brief history of the Fonda family in America. Jellis Douwse Fonda came to America from Holland, settling in Beverwyck, now Albany, New York in 1654. He married A. Hester and their son Douw Jellis was the father of six children and his son Isaac was the ancestor of the Fonda's who married Gage's. Would love to share info on this family.
