I am compiling a community history of the colonial residents of the Saratoga District of Albany County, New York.I have used the March 2nd and October 23rd, 1779 Saratoga District Tax Lists as the foundation of my database.
I am seeking biographical and genealogical information on the four men named Isaac Fonda whose name appears in the index of Family Tree Maker's CD #132 - Military Records: Selected NY Revolutionary War Records 1775-1840 from Kinship. There are:
Isaac A. Fonda; Isaac D. Fonda; Isaac H. Fonda; and Isaac I. Fonda.
It should also be noted that the index also includes numerous references to Isaac Fonda in which no middle initial is included in the record.
The names of two of these Isaac Fondas appear on the October 23, 1779 Saratoga District Tax List.A third appears on the Ballstown District Tax List.Just to be on the safe side, I would like to know where the fourth man lived and how all four of these men are related to one another.
Two men named Isaac Fonda appeared on the 1779 Saratoga District Tax List.An Isaac Fonda, Lewis Van Antwerpen and Hendrick Afforour are jointly taxed on real estate assessed at $100.00 (Continental dollars) in the Saratoga District in 1779.Another Isaac Fonda is taxed on real estate assessed at $30.00 in the Saratoga District in 1779.One of the two aforementioned Isaac Fondas served in the 13th Regiment of the Albany County Militia.
A third man named Isaac Fonda is taxed on real estate in the neighboring Ballstown District of Albany County in 1779.This man served with the 12th Regiment of the Albany County Militia.
Church records further compound my problem.A man named Isaac Fonda (1743-1824) is buried in the Yellow Meetinghouse Cemetery (a Congregational Church) in the Town of Stillwater, Saratoga County, NY.This Isaac Fonda died on December 29, 1824 at the age of 81 and is listed as a Rev. War Veteran. However, I have no idea which Isaac Funda he is.
Then the Baptism records of the Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church list two men named Isaac Fonda in its records:
1.Isaac Fonda, who married Rebecca Grosebeck and had five children baptized at the Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church.
2.Isaac Fonda, who married Susannah Van den Berg and had two children baptized at the Schaghicoke Dutch Reformed Church.
The Schaghticoke Dutch Reformed Church served residents of the Saratoga District, as well as, people who lived in the Rensselearwick District of Albany County.
Can anyone help me identify the two men named Isaac Fonda whose names appear on the October 23rd, 1779 Saratoga District Tax list?I need biographical information on both of these men, their respective wives, children and parents.
