A couple of additions to yesterday's posting. John Fordham mentioned several nearby villages where he owned land. The most important was Kelshall, which was mentioned several times, including a bequest to the high altar there. He also mentioned Nuthamstead, Chishill, Therfield, Sandon, Barkway, Ashwell and Anstey, all within about ten miles.
I'm not sure when he was born, but probably around 1490. He (or another person with the same name) was an executor of the will of Thomas Meade of Barley, who was born around 1490, and I think they were probably about the same age.
