My previous post, "... did you ever find where Thomas and Sally Fordham had a son named Theodore? In the 1850 census, he lives next door to Thomas and Sally...
Theodore age 27, laborer
Fidelia age 24
Ellery A. age 2
"...it would explain then, why I keep finding two Theodores but with different wives and children"
More of the previous post-
"...I've almost exhausted the second wife idea, because none of the children in Hermon show up later in Michigan. Thomas and Sally would be the right age for being parents to this Theodore."
I never really let that go, thinking that perhaps Theodore left Fidelia for Betsey Babbit, since they were neighbors also.(Theodore, son of Jesse married Elizabeth Babbitt and moved to Michgian. There was a slight difference in the ages however.)
Previoius post-
"Do you or anyone have anything that would show Thomas as father to a Theodore?"
Today while sorting out stacks of information and trying to better organize my work, I came across some coorespondance from another researcher and then it hit me-with an exact fit-Sally R. did have a son Theodore.Austin Theodore Fordham, to be exact.
Austin T. Fordham, is prominently listed as the son of Thomas S. and Sally/Sarah Fordham, in various family trees. He's also Austin T. Fordham in census information.
In the 1850 census there appears in Hermon, NY, Theodore and Fidilia Fordham with child Ellen (or Ellery) A. Fordham age 2.
Austin T. Fordham born March 6, 1823 was married in 1846, to Adelia born May 12, 1826, (Unk). In the 1850 census, Theodore is 27. Which would have him born in 1823.Adelia, Delia, Addie-any version of how she appears in any census-stems from Fidelia is 24 years old and it fits with an 1826 birth date.
My guess is at the time of the census there might have been a few too many Austin men in the family.Austin Stuart, Austin Samuel and Austin Theodore, so he went by his middle name.
It would be nice to see documentation to back it up, however to me this is the only plausable explaination for Theodore and Fidelia being son and daughter-in-law to Thomas and Sarah/Sally.
