I am also interested in the FORDYCE families who were in western PA, VAand Ohio before 1800 and into the early 1800s.
I find that in the whole state of PA there are only 3 Fordyces listed
in the 1790 census all in western PA-in Washintgton Co. As you probably
know, Greene Co was taken from Washington Co PA.
I am trying to link a Fordyce with a TAYLOR, possibly an Isaac TAYLOR
who was in western PA or Ohio Co. VA before 1800. His wife's given name
may have been Elizabeth. I recall one of the 3 Fordyce was Elizabeth. .
I find Lebeus FORDYCE in Ohio. Someone has stated that possibly Lebeus
Fordyce may have married a Taylor. There is some suggestion that he or
the Taylor were part Indian.
I DO know that two Fordyce daughters married Cornelius Taylor RATHBONE.
His mother - Debora Taylor Rathbone - is my many great aunt, believed
to be a daughter of Isaac Taylor. One of the sons of Cornelius Rathbone
and the Lebeus girlsmarriages was named Lebeus Taylor. I suspect from
this that Lebeus Fordyce was their father.
Do you know of a marriage of a Fordyce with a Taylor OR with a CARROLL
who were also early in Wash Co?
