Barbara, I've come across your message, in the Fore Family Geenealogy Forum( in reply to a posting by someone named Melissa). Your posting says that our family name of Anyan was originally "Anion".Tho I never took time to do a follow-up before(& over 2 yrs.has passed since your referred posting), I feel the following is in order: Our Anyan line is from Lincolnshire, & altho there are several variations of our surname, the use of Anion was seldom seen;as a matter of fact, the "Anion"mis-spelling resulted in some delay in finding records re my 4th grgrandfather,James Anyan(Anion).James & his wife, Mary Fore Anyan, were the parents of my grgrgrgrandfather,John Harrison Anyan, b.1801 in Obion, TN. John H. Anyan & wife, Phoebe Worthington, appear in the records of "Early Pioneer Marriages". Earlier on, i did think that perhaps the person who posted the previous message might reply to you, but since she has not, I thot it appropriate to post this message.I do know that the father of our Mary Fore Anyan(b.1774) was Rev. John Fore.Any other data re her siblings or ancestry is yet unproven, altho there has been some conjecture, guessing, & other unproven data making the rounds. It's best to have proven records, whether civil, state, census, etc.& this is what I try to achieve. None of this is directed to you as chastisement, fault-finding, etc.I just thot you'd rather know these facts.
