Richard Davis at www.Mennosearch.com speculates as follows about ancestry: Johannes Forrer, arrived in Philadelphia on the ship"Mortonhouse" as John Furra (he did not sign) on 17 Aug 1729 Mortonhouse with agroup of Mennonites. He is not found in any records in Lancaster and may have diedshortly after his arrival. He may be the father of Christian who arrived in 1726 andJohannes who arrived in 1727.
Here is information about John (immigrated 1727): John Forrer arrived in Philadelphia from Rotterdam on 16 Oct 1727 on the ship"Friendship" of Bristol, mastered by John Davis, with a large group of Mennonites. The same vessel brought the Hiestands, Lipharts, Graybills, and other well-known Lancaster County settlers.
Davis gives the following information: He was married to Mary [?Meyer]. Hewas naturalized as a Mennonite in February 1728 at Lancaster. He signed his name"Johannes Forrer" on the naturalization petition. He patented 270 acres in HempfieldTownship on 6 Jul 1741 (Deed L-240, Lancaster). He warranted 200 acres in Hempfield on 30 Apr 1746. Hepatented 100 acres in Hempfield Township on 21 Dec 1749 (Deed D-258, Lancaster).John Forry settled upon land between Samuel Blunston's and the Garbers, along the southern base of Chestnut Hill in West Hempfield Twp.
He died in 1753, and left a wife, Mary, and six children. The executors of his willwere Christian Furrey (probably his brother), Henry Strickler and Abraham Meyer (allthree originally from Ibersheim). He names his children in his will as John (who inherited the old homestead), David (who moved to Big Chikis where he erected a grist- and saw-mill), Jacob,Abraham, Daniel and Henry. On 28 Oct 1765 his executors sold 135 acres of his 270acres (patented 1741) to his son John and on the same day sold 135 acres to his son Daniel (Deed L-240, Lancaster).
At the time of son Henry's decease his mother, who was then an aged person, was living with him.She was then the widow of Christian Myers, by whom she had two sons, Christian and Abraham (History of Lancaster Co, 1883, by Ellis and Evans - I have not found this reference, yet).
I am a descendant through son Henry (m. Veronica Roads), son Henry (m. Barbara Engle), daughter Mary (m. Joseph Rohrer), etc.All of my links back from Mary Forry wife of Joseph Rohrer are tenuous and I would appreciate any available documentation.
