Hello. Today,(30/10/09) I have become a member of this site and wonder if anyone can throw any light on the following. Having contacted many people through my genealogy searches I have come accross a lot of interesting things and the latest one is the following. A second cousin removed of mine came across a letter from John Munnoch a relation of mineresiding in London Ontario, dated 24/9/1911 inwhich he mentioned that my Gt Gt Grandfather owned a Tartan Weaving Mill in Bannockburn/St. Ninians area in the 1700's and supplied Highland Regiments with goods.( I am related to Peter Munnoch of St. Ninians) His grandmother was Margaret Forfar. John recalls the story about a clock bought with a Gold Coin from Charles Edward Stuart in return for a pair of hose she knitted for him when he passed through Bannockburn. The letter states that The Forfars still had the clock in 1911 and that she had the clock engraved "Wha wid i thocht it a pair O' stockings bocht it". Could there be someone out there who knows of this clock or anything in the foregoing which can be passed on to me. Looking forward to a favourable reply or otherwise.
