Drury Fort who lived Camden Co., GA was married to Susan Williams, daughter of Samuel Williams-Loyalist, who lived in Anson Co., NC and who was probably born in Edgecombe Co., NC. Her father Samuel Williams was named in Edgecombe Co., NC deed record as the son-in-law of Samuel Swearingen Jr. Samuel Swearingen Jr and Samuel Williams both left Edgecombe County and moved to Anson Co., NC ca. 1766. Samuel Williams was a Loyalist capt. who fought at the battle of Moore's Creek Bridge in 1776 and fled to E.Florida afterwards. Two of his sons (Abner and Wilson) as well as two of his daughters (Jane who married Nathaniel Ashley) and Susan (who married Drury Fort) lived in Camden Co., GA in the late 1780's and 1790's. Two brothers of Samuel Swearingen Jr moved to Edgefield Dist., SC ca 1772. I noticed in a much earlier post that a Drury Fort Sr lived in Edgefield Dist., SC and an Elias Fort lived in Edgecombe Co., NC about the same time the Swearingens and Williams did. Does anyone know the anscestry of Drury Fort of Camden Co., GA or anything about these family connections.
