My grandmother,Emma Louise LeBlanc,was born in Arachat,Nova Scotia and was a cook on her uncle's lumber schooner which traveled back and forth to Boston. His name was Pierre Fougere.In 1897,at the age of 14,she arrived in Boston and soon married my grandfather,James Henry Kane.They had six children and lived in East Boston. She had several brothers who worked on the Eastern Steamship company. One of her brother,Thomas LeBlanc was the pursor on the Evangeline. He later changed his name to Thomas White and was a well known character on the piers in Boston.The family traveled often back to Arachat to visit relatives. I do not know what their names were. I have a brother who was named after Pierre Fougere and a brother named after Thomas LeBlanc. I do know that my grandmother,s mothers Maiden name was Langois(which was also called Langley at times.Please let me know in any of this seems familiar.
