It would make sense if a daughter, or granddaughter of my ancestor, Simon Poe (1707/7-1793 Chatham Co, NC) married a Foushee man.Elijah Foushee was one of only two men who witnessed the will of Simon Poe. It is possible that he was simply a neighbor and provided an independent verification that Simon was of sound mind, if rather elderly. Still, it is very possible that the Poe and Foushee families knew each other possibly as far back as 1700. The Foushee family was in Richmond County and the Poe family across the river in Essex County, VA.
Simon Poe mentioned his daughters in his will, and in 1793, none appear to have the last name Foushee. However, Simon Poe had many grandchildren.
