Jonathan, it's nice to know someone is still interested in finding their "roots".There was a JAMES FOUTCH born about 1830 in Ohio and died Nov 20, 1902 in Lower Lake, Lake County, CA.He married MARY LEFEBRE who was born about 1834 in Ohio.Children of James and Mary were: 1. William Jefferson Foutch b.3/16/1853 in Ohio d. 2/10/1931 in Colusa, CA.(He married Lucretia Knighton) 2. James Foutch III born 1857 in Ohio 3. Male child (name unknown) born 1857 - possibly a twin of James III 4. Albert Foutch born 1859 in Iowa 5. Laura Foutch born 1861 in Iowa 6. Catherine Naveda Foutch born 7/10/1862 in Virginia City, Utah Territory enroute to CA 7. Lauretta Foutch born 9/13/1873 in Lake Co., CA 8 Henrietta born 9/13/1873 in Lake Col, CA and d. 7/18/1893 As you see twins are not unique to this family. As the story goes - - - around 1860 the three Foutch brothers, James Jr., Abraham (Abram) and John began their migration from Ohio first settling in Iowa. The about 1862, accompanied by wives and children they traveled by covered wagons pulled by oxen to California. They all settled in or near Placerville, CA to "find gold".One family legend and story tells of a time when the children of Abraham were out playing and brought in some gold rocks. The next morning the nuggets came to the parents attention, and they all tried to retrace the children's steps - but no more were found.By the birth dates and reported place of birth of the children I believe that sometime in 1868 Abraham and John returned to the midwest with Abraham eventually settling in Eagleville, Harrison Co., Missouri (right on the Missouri/Iowa border) and John settled on a farm around Russell, Iowa (I think in Lucas County).I may have given you more info than you needed right now but if you could narrow it down a little with some names, dates and places I'm sure we can connect you to the right family.I know you have alot of cousins out there.
