The Foye name goes back to the earliest colonial times. They were in Kittery around 1700, mostly an English family. There was a prominent Foye family in Cambridge -- Capt. John Foye, master of the Dolphin, was a well-known mariner, and his brother Jeffery a well-known merchant. One of their descendents was a partner of Faneuil in Boston. This branch are thought to be Huguenots, come to North America via the Channel Islands. You could find information on them in almost any reasonably large city library that has a geneaology collection.
