Gail, So great to hear from you! Let me give you a little background of my search.
To make a long story not so long, I was born in Ocala but moved to an area between Flemington and Fairfield, in the Northern section of Marion County, with my Mom and sister when I was about 12. According to my Mom's father, years ago there were two slave plantations located in this area, one owned by the Fraizers and the other by the Blounts. Once the slaves were freed, many of them took the names of the plantations on which they live (which would explain why there are many people of African-American decent with those last names in that area). My grandfather has given me names as far back as the slavery days (feel free to check out my family tree - it's also posted on this site) but to go further, I think I will need to approach the search through Census documents and other records. To do this, I need to find the names of some of the Caucasian Fraizers who may have either lived in that area or had relatives who did.
Unfortunately, I think you could be of more help to me than I could be to you because the most I can offer would be the names of individuals who possibly worked in the fields owned by your relatives (assuming they were related to the North Marion Fraizers). Still, if there's anything I can do to help further your search, please let me know.
You mentioned the name Stonewall Fraizer - can you tell me a little more about him? Did he have any siblings or other relatives in the area that you know of? Feel free to write me directly at my email address, FtnessFan@aol.com.
Thank you so for responding to my post. I wish you the best of luck in your search. Please keep me updated as to how it's going.
