William H. FRANCKE b. 27 April 1852 Hanover Germany
This is how the story goes: William Henry Francke was the Chief Forester for crown in Hanover Germany. But when Hanover was taken over by Prussia (1866), he did not wish to live under Prussia rule. He immigrated to the United States, taking his family to Illinois. He had son who was also named William Henry Francke, who was sent back to Berlin Germany to study for the ministry. Well young William, not wishing to follow the profession of the ministry retuned to the United States. He was in business in Chicago for several years where he met and married Wilhelimine (Minnie)Oesterrich, daugther of Henry & Marie Oesterrich in 1880. William & Minnie leave Chicago sometime before 1883 for the northern part of Iowa. By 1894 he had moved his family again to Valentine, Nebraska. Both he and his wife remaining there until their deaths, in the early 1930's. They had fourteen children William, Vincent, Lena, Fred, Martha (Mattie), Grover, Edwin, Louis, Nellie, Hazal, Albert, Phillp, Marie, and Minnie. William was said to have a brother who may have return to Germany after WW2. Have not been able to find his father or any other family members. If anyone who has any information on this family it would be greatly appreciated.
