Inez Alethea Frankland, 95, died March 27, 2008, in Springville, N.Y. She was born June 1912 in Rochester, N.Y., daughter of Nathaniel Roger Kelley and Sarah Luella Jones Kelley. She grew up near Seneca Falls, N.Y., and graduated from Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls and the State University of New York at Albany.
Inez taught in the high school at Prattsburg, N.Y., 1932-1933. After her marriage to Ralph Harry Frankland in 1933, she lived in Schenectady, N.Y., where Ralph worked for the General Electric Company. In 1939 the family moved to the Mayfair area of East Glenville, north of Schenectady. When her children were grown, Inez taught for the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake and the Ballston Spa school districts, then worked for several years for H & R Block in its Schenectady, Mayfair, and Colonie offices. Inez moved in 1976 to Fayetteville, N.Y., to set up a household with her sister, Sylva. In 1995 the sisters moved to Springville, and in 2001 Inez moved to Orchard Park, N.Y., to live at Orchard Heights.
Besides being a teacher, Inez was an artist skilled in oils, watercolors, and pastels. Adept at whatever she did, she will be remembered for her unfailing kindness and care for others. Inez is survived by her children June (David) and Roger (Sondra); grandchildren Aaron (Lisa), Kristen (David), Elizabeth, and Ellen; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Springville, on Saturday, April 5, at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to a charity of your choice.
