John Freeland, b.1814 in Monongohela Twp., Greene Co., PA, son of George Freeland and Nancy Fitch Freeland, was a teacher for a number of years and then became a farmer. He married Minerva Clevenger, daughter of Edward Clevenger and Mary Cline and had 9 children. His daughter (my gg. grandmother), Martha A. Freeland Whitehill (married to John W. Whitehill), lost a baby, Edward Whitehill, to lung fever in 1895 and the cemetery is listed as Freeland BG. I wonder if part of John Freeland's farm became Freeland BG. I wonder if the Freeland Cemetery listed in Greene Co., PA is what was called Freeland BG in the record. I tried to find the cemetery but was driving on rough, gravel-covered roads and what used to be side roads are grown over. Perhaps the road is now entry to private property. I'd love to go back and try again to transcribe and photograph the names on the tombstones since they would most likely all be related. Has anyone been to that cemtery near Brave, PA in Greene? The satelite feature on weather.com zooms in close enough that I can see what looks like tombstones just south of some farm buildings.
