I am looking for information about John Freeland, a tobacco merchant and cotton merchant who lived in New Orleans until about 1850.He lived on Poydras Street with his wife, Rosalie Tucker Bradfute Freeland, and their children Maria, Rosalie, John, Carter Penn, and James (who died in 1845).
I think that William Freeland, also a tobacco merchant, might have been his brother.Sarah Freeland was their (or at least John's mother).I think they had a sister named Hannah.
John served in the War with Mexico, even going into Tampico Bay with General Winfield Scott.
I am trying to figure out where John was born, and who his parents were. I think he was born in 1801 (or 1806) and he died in Richmond in December, 1872.
Thank thank you for any information that you would be willing to share!
