What great questions...let's see if I can come up some fairly good answers.
Question 1.Yes, Thankful FREELOVE m. Ezra WHITMAN was the dau. of John FREELOVE & Abigail WASHBURN of Bridgewater.
Question 1.Samuel FREELOVE d. c1848 Cheshire Co., NH had a wife named Abigail who is found in 1850 census there, and had deeds after his death.
Morris FREELOVE m. 1680/1 Elizabeth WILBORE being Morris (1) FREELOVE:
I believe Samuel FREELOVE who d. c1848 Cheshire Co., NH is son of Samuel (3)FREELOVE m. Naomi FREELOVE (dau. Thomas (3)FREELOVE & Thankful EDMINSTER.)Samuel (3)FREELOVE was son of Samuel (2)FREELOVE & Mary EDMINSTER...both EDMINSTER girls are daus. of James EDMINSTER & Ann MAKEPEACE of Freetown.
Therefore shall we call the Cheshire Co., NH Samuel (4) FREELOVE.I believe he is the the Samuel FREELOVE who is listed as head of household, 1800 Census of MA, in Worcestor Co. p.506.Samuel FREELOVE 00010--02110--00.
Samuel (3) FREELOVE was alive 1792 and was listed 1790 Census of MA, Bristol Co. in Freetown on p.46.In the household were two males over 16 yrs. of age and 3 females.(I don't believe the other male was Samuel, but was David FREELOVE who served in the Am. Rev. from Freetown and was pensioned. He died in Clarendon, Rutland Co., VT, 1841.)
I link David FREELOVE of the Am. Rev. to Samuel (3) FREELOVE because David said in his pension application his discharge papers burnt in his father's house in Freetown, MA.In Guardianship papers of Bristol Co., MA, Samuel (3) FREELOVE's house burnt...he had a guardian appointed because they found he was "non compos mentis".I won't go into the "non compos mentis" situation, although I do not believe he was "insane."
David FREELOVE of Freetown & Clarendon, VT was closely linked to Wilbur FREELOVE who was also of Freetown, also served in the Am. Rev. War and signed an affadavit for David (relationship not given).Wilbur was in West Rutland, Rutland Co., VT and was prob. the Wilbur FREELOVE who d. 1838 in Fall River.(Wilbur FREELOVE was listed 1790 Census in Northfield, Hampshire Co., MA with 2 males over 16 yrs. of age and 2 females.)
Therefore I believe the family of Samuel (3) FREELOVE consisted of 2 daughters, one being Thankfull FREELOVE who b. 1765 and listed 1850 Census in Fall River, age 85 yrs. in Almshouse "old age."Two sons, David FREELOVE and Samuel FREELOVE and perhaps Wilbur FREELOVE and/or others.
Because Samuel (3) FREELOVE had a guardian appointed, by the time of his death there probably was no estate to administer and no heirs to be named because there was no estate.
Question 2:Yes, I think this could be John Willard FREELOVE b. 1816 VT (in Wisconsin Census records) or b. 1806 VT (in Troy, Bradford Co., PA Census records.)
Larnard FREELOVE was "of Pittsford" Rutland Co., VT as early as 1824 (deed.)He sold a piece of property in Pittsford to Almon WHEELER in 1828.(Larnard FREELOVE of Troy, Bradford Co., PA had a wife, Mary WHEELER and he named one of his sons Almond FREELOVE.)
Question 3:Yes, I believe John FREELOVE Jr. who served in the War of 1812 at private in Sumner's Regiment, Vermont Malitia was John FREELOVE of Castleton (John FREELOVE who m. Rhoda COOK...also called John FREELOVE Jr. 1810 Census of VT, Addison Co., in New Haven.)
As you can see there is alot of research still needed to ascertain who belongs to who.Is this thoroughly confusing now?
This why I still have not been able to figure out who are the parents of my great great grandfather, Chandler FREELOVE b. 1814 VT.
