The St. Mary parish, Louisiana, Frere family, descends from Alexander Frere, who immigrated to Louisiana from Paris, France and he was the son of a merchant in Paris, France, he owned a large plantation in St. Mary Parish and he had three wives, the first wife was Marie Josephe Pellerin by whom he had two children, a son, Joseph Frere, and a daughter, Marie Elizabeth Louise Iphagenie Frere, who was married to Gabriel LaCalire Fuselier, and the second wife was Caroline Hennen by whom he had one child, and the third wife was a Miss Pecot by whom he had a son, Frederick Adrien Frere, and Frederick Adreien Frere and his wife were killed in the hurricane of August of 1856 at Last Island and they left several children and the youngest was 8 months old, which the oldest child, who was a son had to raise all the children. The Saint Mary Parish, Frere family descends from Alexander Frere and his son, Frederick Adrien Frere as his oldest son, Joseph Frere, who was married to Miss Victoria Armelin did not have any children, and his daughter Iphagenie Frere had four children, two sons, and two daughters.
