Sorry that I have not replied till now.I had changed my email address back in April of 2006, so I did not get a reply from Genealogy.com that you replied to my thread.I was just reviewing the Friedman message board this morning when I saw your reply.I hope I am not too late in getting in touch with you!I guess better late then never!
Anyways, to answer your question: Yes we are related. You are my 3rd cousin twice removed.I believe that you were born in 1985?That is what I got on the Friedman Family Tree.I am so happy to be able to find someone from your side of the family! The lady that came me the tree back in the 1990s was Shirley Lustig Schwebel.I had asked her about your family but she knew nothing about you.She assumed that you all lived in New York.Is that correct?I was hoping to find someone from your side of the family so I could update the family tree. The tree was done in the 1980s--so my info on your family is from the mid-to late 1980s.I am sure that much has changed since then!
Pincus Friedman (your great-grandfather) was a son of Moses Friedman.Moses was my great-uncle.His brother, Isaac Friedman was my great-grandfather.So I hope that helps you with how we are related.
I would also like to get some info on Pincus Friedman.A few years ago, I was talking with Lucille Rosenbaum Rudick, whose grandmother was Lillian Friedman Rosenbaum.Lillian was a sister of Pincus.Lucille has since passed on but she told me an interesting story about Pincus. It seems that when the rest of the family moved from Hungary to the USA, Pincus stayed in Hungary. It was said that he was in school learning to be a Rabbi.Once he completed his education and became a Rabbi---then he came to America.Lucille told me that she believed he came to New York where he became a Rabbi there.Do you know if there is any truth to this story?
Please email me at the following address and give me your email address: email@example.com I will then be able to email you the whole Friedman Family Tree.Hope to hear from you soon, cousin! From Jil
