My son,Patrick, sent me your web page.I'm VERY interested in some of the people you mention. My father, Joseph Louis Fritsch, died in 1967, in Rochester, Minnesota, Olmsted County. This seems just too coincidental.I've heard him talk of a "Matt Fritsch" but have no idea if they were actually related. My father was the son of Ferdinand and Ann and the grandson of Louis.Supposedly Ferdinand was from Alsace. He went to England and met my grandmother, who was from around Tadcaster, England (I've been to the church where she was baptized).Anyway...my mother died last year at 99, and in her papers I found a long letter from Alma Fritsch in 1949.She was obviously doing genealogy work.I'd be delighted if I could copy the letter and send it to you.It might be helpful. She mentions a Matt Fritsch in Sayre, PA.She mentions he is Mr. Lambert (sp?) Fritsch's son.She also mentions an Alma Marie Fritsch at Louisville, KY.Says they had the same name but says they could trace no relationship. These people were all Catholic. The second Alma's twin sister was a teaching nun in the Louisville parochial schools. She mentions that (supposedly) my great-grandfather (Louis) was Lord Mayor of Strasbourg before "Germany usurped power so long ago".I would assume this would be the late 1800s.She also mentions a "Rev. Dr. Fritsch who as Dean of a LUTHERAN Seminary..." so that probably is a different family.
Something else interesting....when we were inCrescent Mills CA in an old cemetery, we found a whole Fritsch family, I believe from Alsace. One had been in the Civil War and my son, Patrick, checked out his Civil War papers. He should be able to give you some information on him.It was odd to find a Fritsch family in a small town in Northern California!!!He had signed up for the war in a town near Chicago, where we are from and where Patrick still lives.I now live in Sacramento, CA.Give me more information and your address and I'll send you a copy of this letter. It may give you a lot of information!!I'd love anything from you too!My grandfather's family is a true enigma to us!!
