I know nothing about the Gormleys, but Greenberry Froman was a son of Jacob and Mary Froman of Crawford Co Indiana.Sometime between 1830 and 1840 Jacob Froman migrated to Warren Co Il, possibly because his oldest dau, Sarah, and her husband, John Miles, migrated there. You will find them close together in the 1840 census.Jacob's household includes a male age 20 to 30.Then, by 1850 Greenbury/Greenberry Froman is in his own household;Jacob probably deceased.
Jacob Froman of Crawford Co Indiana was the son of Jacob and Barbara Froman of Kentucky who lived primarily in Bullitt,Mercer, and finally Woodford counties.Jacob Froman of Crawford Co had a wife named Mary but her maiden name is unknown. She was NOT Mary Margaret Dawson as often stated;that woman married Jacob's cousin,Jacob (son of Paul Froman Jr).
Neither Jacob Froman Jr of Crawford Co nor his father, Jacob Sr.,had the middle name HITE so far as I can determine. It seemed to be a confusion that started in the 1990's,but no one has produced any evidence for the middle name and it would be contrary to mid-18th century custom for Jacob Sr to have such a middle name.(German families were not yet using surnames as middle names.)Jacob Froman (Jr) of Crawford Co was born 15 July 1771.An old family record for his father's family once existed.Jacob Froman Sr was a prominent man in early Kentucky, member of the state legislature,at the Convention which framed the state constitution, and an original trustee of the Kentucky Academy which became Transylvania University. He was the son of Paul and Elizabeth (Hite) Froman of Virginia.
