Yes, this is the same Rosamond Fross. (Her daughter Olive Hall Ives was my grandmother Olive's grandmother. My grandmother Olive's mother was Rosamond Marie Hetts.) In my grandfather's genealogy, Rosamond Fross's middle name was also Marie. He thought her mother's name was Mary but didn't say why.Josephine Frost (and an Ancestral File at the LDS, which might be based on Josephine's work) thought Rosamond's parents were Henry D. Frost(d 1848, Erie PA) and Abigail Richmond. The LDS have an extensive pedigree for Abigail Richmond.
I've been in touch with a few folks who've told me about an Abijah Henry Fross who lived around Detroit. One of his ancestors apparently changed the family name from Frost to Fross.
1. I looked in the index of estates for Erie, hoping to find a will for Henry D. Fross. But it seemed not to go back quite that far.I did note a bunch of Froess estates, though.
2. Apparently Rosamond and Holmes were married at the First Baptist Church in Detroit. I haven't tried to find a record; perhaps there's some hint there.
3. I've also ordered the Civil War pension files for Alfred L. Fross, presumably Rosamond's younger brother. He lived with Rosamond and Holmes in 1850 and Josephine has him as Rosamond's brother.Let's hope there are some hints to his ancestry there.
I'd be delighted to hear more, either on this forum or by e-mail, about Rosamond and her ancestors.
