Here's what I think I know. The father of James Samuel Fruit, John Fruit, was probably born in Pennsylvania, in 1738. I have a record of a church there showing that "John, sn of James Fruit baptised November ye 18, 1738." I do believe that John's father was James and that James came to America and originally settled in PA for awhile before heading to North Carolina. I believe that this John Fruit, whom I have designated "The Regulator" because he was a member of the Regulators, is the one who is buried at the old Campbell, Pugh, Fruit Cemetery near Liberty, North Carolina. He married twice, once to Sybil (last name unknown) and once to Elizabeth Pugh. James Samuel and Peninah were two of the children he had with Elizabeth. I have recently placed a copy of my Fruit Family history n the Randolph County Library, in Asheboro.
