With regard to going back further than Absolom and Zilla... that's where it gets to be really tough: you get back to a certain point in time and there are simply no census, marriage, birth, or death records available. So the only way you could find out about someone in that situation would be if, say a descendant of that individual, had the particulars about him/her, and posted it just as you have with Absolom and Zilla. I can't help but wonder if Absolom was named after King David's son in the Old Testament. But David's son's name is spelled "Absalom."
I was amazed that we were able to trace my mother's ancestry back to the time of Jamestown and then to England in the early 1600's. That's what I've been hoping to do with my dad's lineage all along. Your posting of the info about Absolom and Zilla is a critical part of that process if I ever do get it done.
