Pj,If you descend from Francis, who died in 1781, then you do descend from Josias, but through Josias's son Martin who was the father of this Francis.Josias's son Francis, the brother of Martin, died in 1791.I think that all of Josias's children are well documented down to the present day.
Josias's children listed in his will of 1757 are: Josiah, Anne, Francis, Martin, John and Randolph.
My own "brick wall" involves the father of our ancestor George Fugate and just who are his parents.Personally I believe his father is Martin, son of Josias, because of how he named his children and the fact that he lived very near Martin in Fauquier County, Virginia in the 1780's.There are other reasons also, but I can't prove the connection. So it will remain just a guess.
A vast amount of information about Francis (died in 1781) is available because of the lawsuit brought by his son George Fugate (not my ancestor) against his mother Nancy Mahon in 1810.
