Outside Salisbury in Wiltshire there is/was a village named Fugglestone of which only the church called Fugglestone St. Peter remains. Our branch of the Tabor family (now living in Australia) comes from Fugglestone.
I'm curious about the origin of the name of Fugglestone and wonder if it was named after the Fuggle family. I am aware that Fuggle is derived from the Old English Fogel (bird/fowel) and Ton is from OE village or walled encampment.
Does the Fuggle family have a history in Wiltshire?
