Two cousins on my Mother's side have done theirs, we have always wondered of the Laws family origin and now we know its Viking, as for my Reid cousin, he should have his results soon and perhaps we will finally know from which line our 1744 ancestor originated when he came to Virginia.
My Fullarton line seems to originate in Philadelphia PA in the mid 18th Century but there were actually quite a few in SE PA at that time and I have not been able to pinpoint who exactly I come from. It has been intensely frustrating for me and I am hopeful that finding a DNA link could help me to identify that missing link.
My Haplogroup is the Celt-Iberian "R1b1c" which is strongly situated in Scotland and Ireland. There have been some close comparisons to various other Scottish surnames but as of yet I match no one directly. The other male in the study has come back in the E3b1 Haplogroup which is centered in the Levant and Turkey, the speculation is possible Auxillary soldiers brought to Britain by the Romans but definately not of the native Scots population.
As I said, it has been fascinating to see the groupings that other studies have produced.....it certainly can prove a relation as well as disprove.
