Betty, Hello! I am a descendant of Hans Devauld Funderburk (Von der Burg). I have been doing some research since last year, mostly via the Internet. Hans Devauld was descended from the princely/royal Von der Burg family of Germany. I have found that this family is descended from almost all of the royalty of Europe's many kingdoms and principalities and nobility up until the early 1700s (when Hans came to the U.S.A). Not only did Hans and his family have German ancestry, but also ethnic and ancestral descendants/ancestors from virtually almost all European ethnic/cultural groups and royal families/dynasties back into early historical times and then even some found into parts of Asia. One of the notable families/dynasties from which Hans has ancestors is the Habsburg family and had quite a few Holy Roman Emperors in his lineage. Two notables he is descended from are Ferdinand and Isabella.I am still doing research on Han's royalty line when I have the time. There are lots of blanks to fill in on the charts and it seems like a never ending journey, but totally awesome to learn of all these royalty and historical origins. Most of what I have found is from Han's father's line. I am also descended from the Laneys, Plylers, Hargetts, and other families who are connected with the Funderburk family in my line. The Funderburk connection comes from my paternal grandmother. She was a Belk and that's the same family who have the department stores, but the store family was the branch of the family who stayed in the Carolinas. My grandmother's Belk family founded the small town of Belk in Fayette County, Alabama. I would give you some more info. about Hans Funderburk and his ancestors, but I don't have the info. with me at this time. Hope this tidbit of info. helps and hope to talk to you again. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
