Silas Monroe Funkhouser was the son of Martin Funkhouser (1798-1874) by his second wife, Catherine Ashren (m. 1848) Martin was born in Shenandoah Co. VA youngest son of David Funkhouser and Elizabeth Boehm (pronounced Beam). Martin married Christina Swartz in Virginia and had a number of children, including the CorneliusI mentioned in the earlier posting. He and his family moved to Indiana in the 1840s and Christina died. By his second wife, Martin had only Silas M. and a dau. Missouri, who died as a child. David Funkhouser (1748-1803) was the son of John Funkhouser Sr. one of the early Funkhouser settlers in Virginia. I had the listings of Silas M's children and should have found your Charles earlier.
