I was always told that the Furries were originally from the Isle of Man, off the coast of England. I know that my Great Grandfather was from a small town near New Castle, England. He came to Canada around 1898. Around 1900 he returned to England and joined the military there in order to fight in the Bora War. After the war he returned to Canada where he lived in Carmen, Manitoba. Also, rumour has it that another strain of Furries came over to Canada from the United States during the War of Independance because they were Loyalists. There were quite a few people with the last name 'Furrie' that lived in Old Chelsea, Quebec during the early 19oo's (Mary Furrie?). I personally am related to Furries that live in Ottawa and Calgary.
