Early this year, I visited the Evangeline Parish Library in
Ville Platte and had the librarian copy St. Ann Cemetery
Records for me. I found your ancestors in St. Ann Cemetery
(Mamou North), p. 593
Armide F. Guillory, b. 03 Apr 1898, d. Nov 12, 1975
Sady Guillory b. 12 Jan 1895, d. 08 Jun 1970
I looked for their birth/baptismal records in Southwest
Louisiana Records by Rev. Donald J. Hébert, but they were
not listed. The fire of 1936 destroyed St. Ann's early
church records. However, if you send for a copy of their
marriage license, you may find their parents' names listed.
Ask the Clerk to copy front and back.
My parents married at St. Ann's in 1924 and I was not able
to get a copy of their marriage record from St. Ann's. I
went to the Evangeline Parish Court House in Ville Platte
and asked for a copy of their marriage license. It was my
good fortune that the pastor of St. Ann's had completed the
form provided on the back of their license for recording
the religious ceremony and returned it to the Clerk of
Court to be recorded.
