WILLIAM FUSSELL - FATHER OF SOLOMON & BENJAMIN Looks like we share a common grandfather: WILLIAM FUSSELL b. latter part of the 1600s in England. He is the father of both your SOLOMON FUSSELL and my BENJAMIN FUSSELL. He is my sixth Great Grandfather. No one I know has been able to obtain any hard data from the UK about him.
SOURCE: The best we have is: The Genealogy of the Fussell Family, Edwin Fussell, NY, Mordecai Fussell, 1891. It can be found at the Historical Society of Delaware. For $9.50 you can have it copied and mailed to you.
MY OTHER SOURCES FOR FUSSELL RESEARCH: Other than researchers who have done maticulous research, and have been kind enough to share both it, and their sources with me, I have depended on the following:
1) 6 Volumes Hinshaws Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy. These are taken directly from Quaker meeting records. Purchased on CD from The Genealogical Publishing Company online. $29.00
2) 5 page letter Solomon Fussell to his nephew Indiana Historical Society, copied and mailed for $4.75
3) Chester County Historical Society, PA. Photos: Dr. Bartholomew Fussell, Emma Jane Fussell, and Ellen Nellie Fussell Cope, scanned versions for $35.00 Becasue I asked for it they also sent some biographical data about the Fussell family.
4) Futhey & Copes - History of Chester County, PA With Genealogical Biographical Sketches. Heritage Books, 1540 Pointer Ridge Place, Bowie Maryland, 20716. Go online get the 800 number and ask for "Jeannie". 2 volumes for $107.00
LONGSTRETH: I do know about the LONGSTRETH family. Although I have not seen a work called the "Longstreth Family Rrecords" I have obtained information about them from lots of sources.
QUESTION: Do you have a copy of this ? Would you be willing to share it? Or, could you tell me how I can find acopy for myself?
SOLOMON FUSSELL IN PA AND HIS DESCENDENTS IN INDIANA: I have loads of information about the first SOLOMON FUSSELL and his descendents, many of whom were named Solomon as well. I have information and pictures of one of his chairs, some of which are still being sold at auction for large amounts of money. I have photos of some of his descendents in the 1800s in New England. Many of his descendents were quite famous and I have collected information about some of them. I particularly like the biographical sketches. It really adds something to page after page of birth, marriage, and death dates and places. INDIANA FUSSELLS - I have a copy of a letter written by a SOLOMON FUSSELL to his nephew in INDIANA. Also a PICTURE of a SOLOMON FUSSELL home built in 1832, and some background information on it. The builderwas first married to Martha Milcah Moore. It is on the National Registry of historic places. A newspaper clipping sent by a kind stranger who lived nearby the home in Indiana, helped me to connect SOLOMON FUSSELL'S descendents to INDIANA.
I know that others in the Fussell family went to and settled in Indiana and no doubt other nearby states. I need help with them. Since you have studied that branch you could probably be very helpful to me.
COULD WE SHARE AND COMPARE INFORMATION? I would be glad to share all that I have and my sources with you, in return for the same. Also, I have 11 generations of documentation about SOLOMON's BROTHER BENJAMIN from whom I am directly descended. If you would like information about this branch I can be helpful to you.
Well Toni, I have tried to give you the big picture. I would like to see your Genealogy Report AND Sources and would be happy to share the same with you. Write soon. I will look forward to hearing from you.
