In case the forum doesn''t post my e-mail address, it's [email protected]'t been doing much on the family tree book update (our last one was done; actually completed by Barbara Shaw Bittel) in 1976.My Mother (she passed away in November 2003 due to a surgical mistake) and I used to try to keep all wedding announcements, birth announcements, graduations, deaths, etc., so that one day the book might be updated.I'm only working on my grandmother's part (Barbara Korbe nee Rohr). In an old letter from Mrs. Bittel, she said she'd tried to update once before but couldn't get much interest and she and her husband moved twice in two years so she may have just not gotten responses because of that.I also have a family tree book on the Korbe side done by Bruce L. Pfannenstiel, Esther Korbe Rohleder and Betty Pfannenstiel Leiker first printed in 1993.It starts with Andreas Korbe and Eva Boxler.Mr. Pfannenstiel used to write to my Mother until we moved a couple of times (as did he) and he said in his last message that he'd gotten back to the 1350 on the Boxler's.
I'm not able to spend much time on the compute because in 1995 I started having pain in my feet which continued to advance.I was finally diagnosed in 2000 with spinal cord damage (ARACHNOIDITIS) in the thoraic region of the spinal cord. This area affects the long nerves which means my legs and feet are in constant pain and I'm almost unable to walk now.I'm scheduled to see a new doctor for the possiblity of inserting a pain pump which would send pain medication directly into the spinal cord.
So, I'm happy to help in any research but it just may take me longer to respond to any mail. Thanks for responding to me.I remember my Mother talking about an Anton Gable years ago when I was a young child.I'm now 63 and alone.I lost my husband 1 year and 11 months to the day when he saved two children who were drowing, 12 days after his funeral there was a miscarriage (and ultimately a tumor which made the possibility of any family impossible), no brothers or sisters and then lost my Dad in 1998 and my Mother in 2003.If the doctors can at least control the pain, then I think I'd be able to do lots more on updating the family tree book.
Alfreida Dilcher (nee Savolt; my Mother was a Korbe).
