Reed: I don't know if you have Bill and Corinne Gaddy's book, "That Our Names May be Written," but your line is traced all the way down to your children on pp. 481-482. (To prove how thorough it is, happy birthday to you last Saturday!) Most of these folks on GenForum are probably the cousins you're looking for. Sherwood had (we believe) two brothers (at least), George and Thomas. It was Thomas who moved from Bedford County, VA, to NC in 1760. The oversimplified version is that the NC Gaddys come from Thomas, Jr., and the SC Gaddys from his younger brother, Ithamar. (That's Bill Gaddy's line; Thomas is mine.)
If you can get your hands on a copy of the book, it should answer most of your questions. Happy hunting.
