The Union County Gaddys are simply cousins of the Anson County folks, Union having been created in part from Anson in 1842, so that those Gaddys living to the west of the new line (Polkton, Peachland area) found themselves in Union--or so I've believed. (I keep wishing that someone would sort this out for me and all of us!) All Gaddys, Anson, Union, Stanly are believed to stem from Thomas Gadd(e)y (T2), Rev War soldier and son of Thomas (T1), who went from Bedford County, VA, to NC in 1760.I don't know if this would be the "main" Union line you're seeking, but I'd refer you to family of William Alexander "Sandy" Gaddy (1839-1931, CS soldier) and Sarah Ann Austin (1843-1924, of Union). They had 8-11 children, Wingate area. Sandy was son of David (1808-1845) and Susannah (Bennett) (d. 1855) Gaddy. David was son of James (c1783-1850), son of Thomas 2 (c1753-1814), son of Thomas 1, presumed son of William and Mary Gadd(e)y, VA, as outlined in book by William C. and Corinne Gaddy, "That Our Names May Be Written," Sandy's line on p. 369.
