Jacob – Charles – Edward Gaddy of Michigan, Indiana and the Carolinas A friend recently purchased at auction at an estate sale, two photo albums and numerous personal papers and handwritten receipts associated with the family of Jacob and Etta Gaddy of Lenawee County, Michigan and his ancestors.Jacob was the son of Charles S. Gaddy and his first wife Nancy Dugger. Many receipts related to Edward D. Gaddy of Wadesboro, Anson County, North Carolina. Many receipts relate directly to Jacob, Edward D. and Elizabeth Gaddy. Some are for purchases including a bale of cotton.A number of them list “Union Church” as the recipient. At least one relates to legal fees.Earliest date on these is 1861 and latest found is 1905.Three loose photos were among the receipts, one of which is surely a photo of Jacob and wife Etta about 1915, another, a photo of a young boy has written in pen on the face of it “To Grandma Love Ronnie”. The third is a photo about 1915 to 1920 of a woman on the steps with a black spaniel taken in a town. One of the albums has 28 images all CDVs from the Civil War era to the 1890’s.One is a post mortem shot of a lady taken in Buffalo, New York. Two of them have revenue stamps on the back one from Williamsburgh is a woman with the name Mrs. Hillmann on the back, the other from Washington, DC also of a woman. Most taken in New York, but included are Toronto, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. The second album dates about the same and has a number from Michigan, one from Leipzig, Germany, one with a revenue stamp from Buffalo, New York and one or two from Missouri. One has written on it “Pastor Rene Graham”.Quite a number of them are of Ministers as well as a couple of pictures of churches.Photos from both albums run from very nice to very rough condition. Being a genealogist, I would certainly like to see this in the hands of descendants if possible.Anyone interested in retrieving this lot before he breaks it up and offer it on E-bay please contact me via e-mail with GADDY in the subject line.I will check this board as time permits but a direct e-mail to me will bring a quicker response.
