Catherine, this is what I have been looking for!!! I may not be very accurate on details, but this is what I have come to know. My grandfather was William Joseph Galarneau from the Detroit area. I was told that he had several brothers and sisters(but they may have been step). My great-grand mother is Sophie Sauve. Her husband died just before my grandfather was born. She remaried, but I don't know to whom. My granfather married Vitoria Richie. They had 3 children:William James(my father), Wanda, and Robert. Wanda and Robert died as infants from pneumonia. William, Victoria and "Billy"(my dad) moved to Muskegon,Mich. where they all lived out the remainder of their lives. Bill and Cecilia (Kraus) had 8 children most of which still reside in the Muskegon area. I do remember my dad's cousin, Les Countryman, came to live with them. Bill and Les were like brothers. I do remember seeing the spelling with an "O". I recall seeing a picture of my grandfather and written on the back was Gallerno. I was told that there was some illiteracy in the family. I don't know at what point our name was changed back. I was also told of an "Uncle Joe" that used to run bootleg across the river from Windsor to Detroit during the prohibition. It is kind of funny how much you don't think you know. You told me a few key words and things just started coming back. Catherine,I believe our grandfathers are brothers. This is the first connection that I have made. Please e-mail me!
Looking forward to hearing from you, Chuck Galarneau Cgal275@hotmail.com
