The name Galvan originated in the Scottish Highlands. The Galvan clan were nomadic people. During the crusades, many ventured through out Europe. In Germany, Galvan is spelled Galbein, Italy Galvani, Ireland Galvin, and France Galben. The root name was "White" before it became Galvan which probably means it came from the Scandanavian countries before Scotland.
I found this information in a book about Scottish surnames by mistake back in 1989. The one charatertistic that leads me to believe this is true, is that the people I have seen from the highlands all have thick eyebrows and one hell of a stare. The actor Sean Connery is from the Highlands. The latino Galvans (including myself) have that similarity.
