Hi George T.! Thanks for answering my post. I am so happy to have found this site. Thanks for all the priceless information. I see my Dad did have the ages of his aunts and uncles mixed up! I will be giving all of the postings that I have printed off this site to my Dad this Wednesday, Sept. 12th. He will be so thrilled. I'm trying to get him into this genealogy thing. He has a new pc and has just gotten AOL, but doesn't really think he likes "this internet thing". Hard to believe he's a retired data systems analyst! I've told him over the phone about what I've found here and he was very surprised that there was anything at all about the Galyons. So I will just have to continue to picque his interest!
So you were in contact with my Uncle Ernie (actually my great uncle) in the 1980's? He, along with his Mom -my great grandmother Eva and his sister my grandma, were the only Galyons I ever met. He must have passed away by now? I remember sitting on his lap while he was visiting my grandmother in SF, California -when I was quite small. That's when he told me that he WAS injured at Pearl Harbor. He told me he was enjoying an ice cream cone when bombs started dropping and he chipped a tooth diving for cover! What a sweet ole guy I remember him to be...
My Dad also did mention the thing about one of his uncles (Reese, I now know) being a police chief in OK City. I'm afraid I somewhat pester him try to remember more of these family "legends"! Thanks for the verification.
One of these days I will dig into my Dad's old photo albums and try to find pictures of those we've mentioned. I know he has some of my Grandma Esther and atleast one of Ernest. I am really so grateful toyou for responding. I will write again here and probably email you and Wm. Scott Galyon, George. Thanks, again!
