Re: Gambrell Headstones Oroville CA

Karen, it was so nice of you to post your message even tho you are not researching this family! C.H. Gambrel was my gggrandfather, born in Covelo, Mendocino Co. CA. in 1860's.
Smith W.(Jr.) was his brother, also born in Covelo.Parents were Smith W.(Sr.) born in "Old Virginia" and Sarah Onyett, born in Gibson Co. IN.I believe they may have known each other in Indiana, or came with same wagon train to CA. in 1852, but they married in Oroville, then moved to Covelo in 1860's, & had five children.All kids except one, Edward Gambrel, moved back to Oroville,Butte Co. CA.
